Avoiding dental treatment for a sudden injury is never a good idea, so no matter the level of pain or severity of the damage, it’s always better to call us and alert us to the situation. Over the phone, we can determine if you need to come in right away or if you can wait a day or two before seeking treatment.
On average, a normal dental checkup and cleaning costs between $200 and $350 in the United States. However, if you have dental insurance, it may cost you nothing at all. Much of the price depends on various factors, such as the geographic location of the dental office and your overall dental health.
A typical dental checkup will include a discussion of your medical history as well as diagnostic X-rays, a thorough exam from a dentist, a professional cleaning, and an oral cancer screening.
If your dentist is an in-network provider, there’s a good chance these services have already been pre-negotiated with the insurance company, which means they’re likely to pay 80-100% of the total cost of your preventive care.
You may be tempted to avoid seeing the dentist if you do not think you can afford it, but this is never the right idea. Forgoing treatment will only result in worsening symptoms that later require complex, costly dental care.
If you have dental insurance, make sure to use it. Your plan can help you save thousands of dollars in restorative and emergency care. However, if you are uninsured, you can still receive affordable dentistry by applying for flexible financing through CareCredit. This unique financier allows you to break up your treatment costs into manageable monthly installments.
